Vic Sotto to Host ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’ on TV5

Vic Sotto is a living proof to the saying "If its meant to be, it is really meant to be."

After Richard Gomez declined TV5's offer to host their newly franchised game show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire", another replacement (which according to some showbiz insider is much better choise) already inked a deal with Philippines third biggest TV station to host the new season of Who Wants to Be A Millionaire.

This is Vic Sotto’s first hosting stint outside of T.A.P.E., Inc., the producer of the longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga. He will be joining his best buddy Joey de Leon in the TV5 family. Joey is the host of "Wow Mali!" new season.

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire was first franchised by Viva TV way back in 2000 with Christopher de Leon as the first game master. It was aired on IBC 13 until 2002 when its studio was razed by a fire. It was a hit among Pinoy televiewers back then.

Seven years after, the popularity of the said game show was revived by the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire. To date, more than 60 countries have their own version of the show. And this year, the Philippines will have its new version, too, courtesy of TV5.

Megan Corkrey was Eliminated from American Idol Season 8

Last night on American Idol, the remaining nine had faced the decision of the nation and as Ryan Seacrest said, "one of them could lose all this." Ryan Seacrest said that 36 million votes came in for their favorite American Idol contestant.

Ryan Seacrest asked Simon Cowell who should leave American Idol tonight and Simon Cowell answered that…Anoop, Matt, and Megan should be worried.

Ryan Seacrest then announced that tonight could be the end for one of the contestants unless the judges come to their aid. He then announced that Kris Allen, Matt Giraud, Lil Rounds, Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey, and Scott MacIntrye were safe, while Megan Corkrey, Allison Iraheta and Anoop Desai were in the bottom three.

After the break Ryan Seacrest sent Allison and Anoop back to their seats as they are safe for elimination.

Simon Cowell told Megan that this would be her swan song as they would not be saving her tonight. We then saw Megan’s montage. Megan thanked everyone on American Idol, the other contestants, the judges and America.
