I should actually have written "à la Kirsty YOUNG", the estimable presenter of Desert Island Discs. I'm not sure that I've ever heard Kirsty Wark speak.
Whilst I'm at it, two comments on Desert Island Discs:
- I am struck more and more by how different people are. Who, for example, could be more different from Nick Park than Tom Jones? Or from Alice Cooper than Robert Harris?
- On the other hand, what they have in common is the fact that they have all done something with their life. Which is rather a grim thought for the likes of me.
