With the mid-term elections safely behind him, it is now time for Barrack Obama to reach out across the political divide and try to find common ground with Republicans in the House and the Senate. But what common ground? How about a national campaign to do something about obesity? Judging by television footage, most followers of the Tea Party are a) white and b) obese or at the very least overweight. Similarly, a very sizeable percentage of people whom one might expect to vote Democrat are a) black and b) obese.
I don't suppose I shall win many friends for saying this, but, speaking as someone who loves America and would gladly live in the States given half the chance, I wonder how many Americans realise that our abiding impression of them is their fatness?
