JM De Guzman Self-Titled Album Set to Launch Soon

Philippine TV’s fast rising dramatic actor JM De Guzman is not only talented in acting but in singing and songwriting as well.

The “Mula sa Puso” lead revealed that he is set to release his self-titled album under Ivory Records very soon.

It’s a 12-track album, ten covers and two of which I personally wrote,” he shared. “People can expect to hear chill-type of songs here.

JM cleared though that despite him pursuing the music industry, his first love is still and will always be acting.

Considering that he is a newcomer, JM quickly earned the respect of his peers and earned praises from viewers for his portrayal as Gabriel in the 2011 remake of classic soap opera hit “Mula sa Puso.”

One of the people he was able to impress is veteran and Box Office Director Wenn Deramas.

Given more challenging roles, JM is one of the important actors of his time,” he said.

Lauren Young, who plays JM’s love interest Via, also commended his superb acting skills.

He’s a really good actor. He’s very professional and versatile. He can shift from his jolly character as Gabriel to a serious one which is hard to do. He really gives justice to his role,” said Lauren.

Despite these flattering praises, JM remains humble yet thankful for the appreciation being given to him.

I’m very overwhelmed with these compliments of course but I see to it that will remain in focus. Every taping, the scenes get harder and harder and I give my all to prepare for what the role requires me to do. I really take Gabriel to life,” JM explained.

When asked if this is how he foresees his career in showbiz, he said “Yes. When I entered showbiz, I know where I stand and my goals as an actor. I should be focused on my character. Fame is part and parcel of being a TV personality but at the end of the day, an actor thinks on how to touch people’s lives with the role he portrays.

As early as six years old, JM already started doing commercials and ventured into acting as he became part of the popular gag show “Ang TV.” He stopped for a while to focus on his studies but when he stepped on the college level, he chose to take Theater Arts in the University of the Philippines-Diliman.

He returned to TV via “Precious Hearts Romances (PHR) presents Midnight Phantom” that was immediately followed by “PHR presents Alyna,” “Martha Cecilia’s Kristine,” and now, “Mula sa Puso.”

JM will also be seen this July opposite Eugene Domingo in “Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank,” an official entry to the 2011 Cinemalaya directed by Chris Martinez.

Keep watching JM as Gabriel in “Mula sa Puso,” weekdays after “Marry Me Mary” on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida.
