Talk N Text climbed out of a 17-point deficit to pull off a 91-84 victory over Barangay Ginebra in their best-of-7 finals duel for the PBA Commissioner’s Cup title.
Making up for his sorry performance in the first half, import Paul Harris poured 23 of his 26 points in the second half to help Talk N Text nab its 3rd win against Ginebra in the series.
Harris’ performance overshadowed the awarding of Ginebra’s Nate Brumfield, who was picked as the conference’s “Best Import."
Talk N Text also received a big boost from its locals with Jason Castro, Ryan Reyes, Ranidel de Ocampo, and Conference Best Player Jimmy Alapag making significant contributions.
Castro scored 16 points while Reyes, De Ocampo and Alapag chipped in 11 points each.
Brumfield, which served as the barometer of Ginebra’s performance, could only muster 15 points.
Mark Caguioa scored 15 while Ronald Tubid and Willie Miller tallied 11 points apiece.
The Texters, the reigning Philippine Cup champions, now hold a commanding 3-1 lead against the Gin Kings and is just a win away from grabbing the Commissioner's Cup title.
The series will resume on Friday at the Araneta Coliseum.
