Academy award winning actress Jodie Foster directs and co-star at the same time with Mel Gibson in the movie "The Beaver".
"Acting and directing at the same time is a very bad idea, don't do it at home. My first movie (1994's "Little Man Tate") I acted and directed, I remember saying to myself "Hmmm, I'm not gonna do this again. It's tiring!" she admitted, following "But at the same time, you do manage to get the performance you were hoping for. "
Foster, who plays as Walter's befuddled wife, said "The film has a strange tone to it. It's challenging for an audience because it starts out on a light note and has a very high-concept tone in some ways, and little by little it sort of becomes darker fairly quickly."
The film stars Mel Gibson as Walter Black, a suburban family man whose paralyzing depression leads to a personality split: A blunt-talking, Cockney-accented beaver puppet becomes his alter ego and coping mechanism, much to the amusement and consternation of his family and co-workers - and eventually to his own horror.
The movie which is showing today in the U.S. also stars Cherry Jones, Anton Yelchin, Riley Thomas Stewart among others.
